Quotes after the first loop of stages.

Rally of Russia. Day 1.

The sportsmen share with us their impressions after the morning run through the stages of Day1.

#5 (Storchak): We're here for the first time, trying to drive fast. We had some mistakes, but we'vealready found the rhythm.

#6 (Naryshkin): It's a great race, just perfect! A bit easier than last year. SS2 is not so straight anymore. On SS3 we had some problems with the electrics. Closer to the end of stage it worked better, but we went off. Anyway we made it to the finish.

#4 (Aksakov): The roads are better than last year. There're many dangerous places, but we're not rushing, just keeping our pace. A suspension arm was bent.

#8 (Kucher): The route is difficult, a lot of crests. It's important to drive fast and carefully. At the moment we're coping with it.

#9 (Bogomolov): The route is great. SS3 is a bit too tough, we had a problem with the steering rack. It was a bit dangerous to driver because the handling got worse.

#14 (Nebogatikov): SS1 - bad impressions about the spectators. They put stones on the road. Marshalls try to control the situation, but they can't follow everybody. But the route itself is wonderful.

#11 (Tempestini): We had mechanical problems on SS1 and SS2, a lot of smoke inside the car, and we couldn't understand where it was coming from. It disturbed us from driving. A lot of narrow places.

#15 (Makarov): We were driving without the second gear and brakes (Kutsaev, co-driver: "Brakes are for chickens!"), showed 2nd time on SS2.

#19 (Vorkachev): What a fun! Frightful, narrow, the roads are very demanding, jumps and crests everywhere. We're driving as we can.

#16 (Broslavskiy): We punctured a tyre at the beginning of SS3. And intercom failed as well! 18 kilometres  on three wheels. Thanks to my co-driver's efforts we made it to the finish.

#26 (Rogov): The roads are "too smooth", too many stones. It's not for rallying.

#20 (Kilunin): On SS1 it was scary, but then we liked it. It felt slippery on SS2, we were driving without brakes, a few times we went too wide, but fortunately quite safely. Punctured two tyres, and had to drive SS3 very cautiously.

#21 (Katkov): A very interesting route, it's very picturesque in the forest, but very difficult as well. We're keeping our own rhythm.

#27 (Bragin): It feels well, but we have some suspension problems and as consequnce with the brakes. The route is interesting, in some places it's very interesting, in others - very difficult.

#25 (Voronov): It's interesting, but a bit tough. Both for the crew and the car.

#31 (Milov): On SS1 we were looking for good set-ups as our tests yestarday concluded very early. Then it was better, we caught up with the crew in front and slowed down. The roads a bit rougher than last year.

#28 (Kabanov): it had become very difficult by the end of SS3: a lot of mistakes, very tough. We tried to find some balance between speed and reliability. Those who don't care about the car, go faster.

#29 (Gorchakov): Driving carefully. SS1 was better, on SS2 we caught a puncture, on SS3 made a mistake and lost time. Anyway we got pleasure.

#32 (Petukhov): Problems with power steering, the roads are very rough. We like smoother tracks.

#34 (Goncharov): It's very easy to pucture a tyre - too many stones.

#36 (Meites): Driving carefully without any hurry.

#35 (Skripnikov): Spectators put many stones. We drove Markoth without a wheel. They put a huge rock in a tricky corner, and it was impossible to avoid it: the cliff from one side and the mountain from another.

#50 (Gubzhokov): No brakes on SS1, punctured a tyre. Compared to last year the route is better.

#39 (Medvedev): Very unusual, it's our first time here. The roads are rough and tricky, but very interesting.

#52 (Chernositov): Very rough and many stones. And very hot!

#53 (Malyarov): The route is very demanding both to the driving and the pace-notes. The skills of the crew are very important here. The most important is to preserve the car. Then there's point in talking about successful finish.

#55 (Savin): SS1 is very difficult, the surface changes, very slippery, hit the car a bit and then were driving more cautiously to make it to the finish.

#38 (Prokopenko): I like the route very much, but it's a bit slippery. We're driving with pleasure. The car doesn't let us down. On SS1 there were a lot of crests, on SS2 some tricky jumps, and SS3 is very narrow, we had to choose whether to drive fast or carefully.
